Oh to be at home now
the rush of sales is here,
busy people
jostling crowds
noises everywhere, so loud.
So loud in my ear.
I long for peace and solitude
away from bustling streets.
The quiet of my little town
echoes in my heart,
each pulse and beat a face I recognise.
Here I am ignored, one among
millions
small, insignificant, in streets
too big, too bright
too intense,
anonymous in a crowd,
lost
yearning to reclaim my sense of self
my inner calm
the place where I am me,
someone people smile at.
There, I am recognised
welcomed
loved.
There, I am
home.
